In Class: Introduce Nationalism!  What is Nationalism?  Where did it start?  What nation-states were involved?

1. How can nationalism be a uniting and divisive force?
2. How can nationalism impact people, nations, and other empires?
3. What about a "nation-state" is most important? i.e. Land, culture, language, etc..

In Class: Nationalism vs. Patriotism -- What's the biggest difference?

1. What do you love about America?
2. What makes America a great nation?
3. Are you proud to be an American? Why?
4. Are there extreme cases of loving one’s country? Examples?
5. Is there an event or world stage where nationalism and patriotism are on extreme public display?
6. Who is Simon Bolivar and how are his ideas "nationalistic?"
