Week 12: Oct. 30-Nov. 3, 2k17

Hey #Davis7 Welcome to the Renaissance!  We've got A LOT to do this week...This blog post is not going to be like previous weeks.  We have three class periods this week and we will spend them answering and discussing the following questions:

You just read a little bit about Leonardo da Vinci but there’s SO much more to learn about him.  Read the passage from the chapter then click here to read the article about Leonardo da Vinci and then click here to watch a video about him.  What do YOU think was da Vinci’s two greatest accomplishment and what do you think was his greatest attribute? (don’t know what attribute is?...look it up!)

Week 11: Oct. 23-27, 2k17

Hey #Davis7!  It's time to join enter the Renaissance!  We've got A LOT of learning ahead of us this week in terms of art, architecture, culture, trade, and DEATH!  Enjoy!

Day 1
In Class:  Go over the Black Death Q from last Friday:  What effects did the Black Death have on Europe?  This paragraph answer is due when you get to class for a HW grade!   What was the Black Death?  Why did it happen?  Where did it spread?  What impact did the Black Death have on Europe?
HW:  Read the passage below and answer the following Q's for HW due by Day 2 of this week.  This can be typed or handwritten.
1. What does "Renaissance" mean in French?
2. How long did the Renaissance last?
3. What two cultures were "classical" according to the Europeans?
4. Bankers and wealthy merchants invested money in arts and sciences.  What impact do you think their investments had on artists and scientists?
5.  The passage says trade and commerce increased as well as the rise in cities.  As we've studied in geography, what generally happens in urban areas and in areas where there is a lot of trade when it comes to "knowledge" and "ideas?" -- This is a tough Q.  You're gonna really have to think...



Day 2
In Class: Go over the Q's from last night's HW and introduce the Italian Renaissance!  What was it?  Why did it happen?  What enabled the Renaissance to happen?  Why such revival? What is Humanism?   Renaissance Doc -- Read and answer the Q's below for us to discuss...

Week 10: Oct 16-20, 2k17

Hey #Davis7, we are still Crusading! We're gonna have our test on the Middle Ages and Crusades on Day 3 this week!  AHHH!!  See the study guide below...

After reading about the Black Death and watching the two videos about the Black Death answer the following question:  What effects did the Black Death have on Europe? This must be in paragraph format and a minimum of 6 sentences.  You may write more than six sentences.  This will be typed, 12 font, Times New Roman, MLA format, double spaced.  -10 points for not following directions

Week 9: Oct. 9-13, 2k17

Hey #Davis7, we've got a pretty Medieval week ahead of us :)  -- We've got a few days to work on the Coat of Arms and then we will dive into the Crusades...

Day 1
In Class:  Work day for Coat of Arms project -- Due Oct. 11 ALL CLASSES -- Both the template and the actual Coat of Arms design
HW:  None!

Day 2
In Class:  Coat of Arms due! -- Introduce the Crusades!  The Crusades!!! -- What were the Crusades?  Why were they fought?  Where were they fought?  Results? -- History Channel Crusades!








Day 3
In Class:  Analyze each other's Coat of Arms projects and learn about each other's Coat of Arms and the ideas behind a Coat of Arms...
HW:  None!

Day 4
In Class:  Resume the Crusades!!!  What were the Crusades?  Why were they fought?  Where were they fought?  Results? -- What did the Crusades tell us?
HW:  None!
