In Class:  Why did Rome Fall Assignment...

Give me your their “Top 5 Reasons for Rome’s Fall”...
Be ready to explain this to your classmates...

We’re now going to take a look at what YOU the historian think.  Use your creativity to show the “Cause and Effect chain of Events,” which led to the fall of the Roman Empire.

Read the list of events.  Make an inference as to why you think this led to Rome’s collapse.  Make sure you understand each weakness listed below & yes, you can do some independent research if your heart so desires:

Starvation Corruption in Government Loss of Faith in the Empire
Barbarian Attacks Disease Slavery Overpopulation
Overworked Military Crime Empire was too large Betrayal -Roman disunity Lack of gov’t control

HW & Quiz Grade:  Using the handout Ms. Jordan & Mr. Barry give you, fill out how you think the Roman Empire collapsed...

5 pts -- Top 5 reasons ranked from 5 (least) to 1 (most) important reasons for Rome’s collapse
5 pts each -- Each reason must include a minimum of three sentences why you believe these answers are the contributing factors to the fall of Rome.
10 pts -- Strength of argument -- Use information we’ve learned to make an assessment of why you selected these reasons and where they stand in your argument list
5 pts -- Strength for reason #1 -- the MOST important reason.  Since this is the most important, you should be able to provide a minimum of four sentences explaining why you believe this is the most important reason.  Clearly, it will be linked to other reasons and we look forward to seeing the connections.

Why Rome Fell Assignment is due Monday, Sept. 16 when you walk into class!
