World Wars Test Feb 18/19 (Day 1)
- Look at the map on page 2. What does this map show us about World War II. The beige colored nations did not fight in the war, nor did they participate in any way. The pinks & purples fought in WWI, but they did not participate in WWII. The blues and greens participated in WWII.
- How was the Treaty of Versailles (the treaty that ended WWI) fail to fix Europe after WWI
- After WWI there was a massive economic depression. A depression means a long period of time where there is economic trouble. Can you think of two reasons why Europe fell into a depression? Think of the results of WWI (you gotta think..)
- Why did Europe see the rise of dictators after WWI? Who were the two most important dictators that came to power after WWI? Also, watch the 1936 Berlin Olympic Ceremonies video. Why were the 1936 Olympics a big deal in Berlin & what kind of message do you think these opening ceremonies sent to the world? This is hard!
- Where did WWII really begin & why did it begin here?
- After watching the flick & looking at the above graphic, how do you think Blitzkrieg was an effective military strategy?
- What did Germany do to Great Britain in 1940?
- he war eventually moved to North Africa. Which nation invaded North Africa? Why do you think it was easy for this nation to do so? Why did it fail?
- Why didn’t the United States want to enter WWII, but what event eventually brought America into the war?
- Provide a few paragraph explanation of how technology was used in WWII.
- Propaganda means: The spreading of ideas, information, or rumors for the purpose of helping or causing a person to believe something. Click on the propaganda link to see the images & look at those posted in the document. What types of messages were illustrated/shown to the people and what were the goals of these messages/images?
- The Allied Forces invaded Nazi-controlled France in 1944. What was the name of this operation and what was the goal? Look at the images and explain what the invasion looked like. Watch the flicks as well to help you answer this question.
- World War II ended in Europe in 1945, but where did the war continue?
- How did the atomic bomb change warfare, and change warfare forever? Watch the flick.
