Week 17: Dec. 4-8, 2k17

Hey #Serfs4Life Welcome to the 17th week!  We are continuing our discussion about Islam and doing quite the bit of reading over these next couple of days...Get ready!

Day 1
In Class:  Reading through the text about Islam and answering the following questions about Islam Intro to Islam Notes and Questions:

1. How many times a day do Muslims pray?
2. What is one beverage & food item Muslims do not consume.
3. Provide three things Islam & Judaism & Christianity all have in common.
4. For Muslims, the Qur’an contains what important message(s)?
5. What is the Sunnah? What makes it different than the Qur’an?
6. What are the most basic acts of worship in Islam?
7. Use the graphic organizer/picture doc to learn about the Five Pillars of Islam.  Provide as much detail as you can to understand each of the Five Pillars...
8. What is the Ka’bah?  What color & shape is it?
9.   What does jihad mean & what does the Qur’an tell Muslims to do for Islam?
10. What is the Shar’iah?

Vocabulary for the Islam Unit:

Day 2
In Class:  Finish the Q's below and begin answering them in class

Week 15: Nov. 27-Dec. 1, 2k17

#Serfs4Life welcome to Week 15 and the beginning of our World Religions Unit! -- These next few weeks we will examine the following religions:


This unit will take us well into January and the new year...And to infinity and beyond!

Day 1
In Class:  Introduce religion -- Butcher Paper K-W-L Activity --  What is religion?  Where does religion come from? Why do we as humans have religion?  
HW: Please answer the Q below in as much detail as possible.  Please write in complete sentences and use MLA format.  This is due by Day 2:  

What about religion is important to you and in your life?

Day 2
In Class:  Discuss some of the answers from our HW Q then discuss the following Q's below...

1. What impact does religion have on your daily life/activities?
2. How does geographic location affect the development & spread of religion?
3. How does religion impact the world around us?

We'll think about geography, hobbies, culture, school, clothing, etiquette, occupation, restrictions, etc...

Day 3
In Class:  Introduce Islam -- Myths of Islam PowerPoint -- History of Islam...Who was Muhammad?  Where was he from?  What is Islam?

In Class:  Continue our Islam discussion -- Five Pillars and Islamic beliefs... Five Things About Islam

Week 14: Nov. 13-17, 2k17

Hey #SerfsForLife #Davis7!  We're finishing our Renaissance Unit this week as we head into Thanksgiving Break! 





Day 1
In Class:  Finish Dinner Party Paper -- One page, MLA format, 12 font, Times New Roman Dinner Party paper!  Minimum ONE page.  No maximum! Dinner Party Document
HW: Finish paper -- Due Day 2!

Day 2
In Class: Go over the major figures of the Renaissance: Shakespeare, da Vinci, Gutenberg, Michelangelo, Titian, Durer, Copernicus, Vesalius, Queen Isabella I, Queen Elizabeth I, & Cervantes
HW: Finish paper -- Due Day 2!

Day 3
In Class:  Finish our major figures of the Renaissance and review for the test!
HW: Finish paper -- Due Day 2!

Day 4
In Class:  Renaissance Test!
HW: None!  Shabbat Shalom and Happy Thanksgiving!

In Class:  Dinner Party time! -- Reading the Chapter on Figures During the Renaissance. Chapter Reading While reading through the chapter, you will be working on this assignment: Dinner Party!
HW:  Ninja Turtles due Friday...Provide the information for all four Ninja Turtles: Who are they? What makes them important to the Renaissance? What was their occupation? What is one of their most famous pieces of art/work?  Color the turtles in if you want :)

In Class:  Continue Dinner Partying! -- Reading the Chapter on Figures During the Renaissance. Chapter Reading While reading through the chapter, you will be working on this assignment: Dinner Party!
